Picking Up the PD Challenge

Posted In: Blog | Professional Development |

The Association of Adult Literacy Professional Developers (AALPD) sponsored a pre-conference panel at COABE’s April 2016 conference on ways to address the field’s professional development needs. Mary Ann Corley (Principal Associate of Adult Learning Partners, LLC), participants included myself, our colleague Sandy Crist (Mississippi’s state director), Kim Harris, Rebecca Wagner, and Randy Whitfield.

The pre-conference was introduced by a 15-minute video speech from Johan Uvin, Acting Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the Department of Education, followed by a discussion organized into six priority areas.

Dr. Corley, working with the National Council for Adult Learning (NCAL), recently worked with some of us participating on a followup blog post, “Picking Up the PD Challenge,” to continue that discussion, featuring thoughts and observations from myself, Dr. Corley, David Rosen (Newsome Associates), Marsha Taylor (Director, Arkansas Adult Learning Center), and Randy Whitfield (President, Adult Education Training & Principal Associate, Adult Learning Partners, LLC).

I thought the article might be of interest. Here is the link: “Picking Up the PD Challenge.”
