Peer Mentoring Peer mentoring offers new directors the opportunity to formally connect with one of your colleagues who has been trained as a resource person, a Peer Mentor (PM), to help you through the first adjustments to your new job. If you are interested in participating, you will complete the Background Information Form and email or fax it. We will then match you with a trained PM, send you the New State Director Self Assessment that enables you to rate yourself on the many new competencies required by this job, and help you analyze your responses. Based on what you determine to be your most pressing needs, your PM will identify resources and options that have been developed by your colleagues across the country. Your PM will then provide assistance and support to you via email and telephone communication. Colleagues helping colleagues is what NAEPDC is all about. Rather than overwhelming you with resources, the PM support allows us to match resources to your needs. This service is provided at no charge as an ongoing activity of NAEPDC’s Professional Development Committee. |
