Gathering Basic Demographic Data and Creating a Community Profile An important component of a community needs and assets assessment involves compiling a demographic profile that paints an accurate picture of the communities at hand through research, charting, and writing. A demographic profile provides the reader with an accurate description of the communities through various demographic statistics, which include, but are not limited to population, poverty, employment and income, education, and English proficiency.
